And I agree!

When I was younger I wanted to be - in this order: A belly dancer, a Solid Gold dancer, a model, a flight attendant, an office manager, and finally a power house business woman (with no husband, no kids).

I cannot say any of the above is on my resume, but that's okay. I've held so many other positions (being a military spouse moving all the time does that), and each one was rewarding in it's own way. Currently I am a stay at home soccer mom of two happily married for 21+ years, and my books are being published by a small press publisher. I can't complain! I love my life! :)Natalie Starhttp://www.authornataliestar.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8050482105736610039.post-81755889866398102902012-06-11T23:32:27.052+01:002012-06-11T23:32:27.052+01:00DeEtte,

I became a mom to 6 wonderful kids, including a set of twins. I have spent years working with people with disabilities, even evaluating and running camps for them. I never got to the concert pianist level because life happened, but music is a huge part of my life. I was a preschool teacher, then taught at the Christian school my kids attended, and from there I home schooled my three youngest kids through high school. I was a founding member of a Medieval reenactment group and taught many workshops on different aspects of medieval life. I spent 35 years as a Girl Scout, including almost 25 as a leader. Along the way, I have written many things, and some were published in newsletters. But it was my older son who convinced me to try NaNoWriMo in 2007. He had prticipated for a few years and wanted to be my writing buddy. He made it through the first week that year, leaving me to sink or swim on my own. Finally, in January of this year, after talking with my long-time friend Kim Emerson, I got it out, polished it up, and am waiting for it to be published, hopefully this fall. In the meantime, I am doing Camp NaNo now, and I edit and read. All my children and grandchildren are readers, or are being read to frequently. I want part of my legacy to them to be the love of good books, and a lifelong desire to learn.DeEtte Andertonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02606319679229445516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8050482105736610039.post-5221193041280341452012-06-11T15:27:03.038+01:002012-06-11T15:27:03.038+01:00It's been my pleasure. I realised this when I was about nine years old and my teacher had given me a big compliment in front of the entire class about my story I made up about little people living under my floor boards. I was told all my life that being a writer wasnt a career for someone from a third world country, that I couldnt survive on it. But I went through high school dreaming of it, reading as much as I could, writing fanfiction, and turning my life into stories of what I wish it could be. I left high school and went straight to work because my mother was ill. I left a job with lots of possibilities to join the radio station to write advertisements. It wasnt novel writing, but it was writing and it fulfilled me. However, after two years it didnt work out, I was too strongwilled and outspoken for a government agency. From there I joined marketing, I did one semester of college in Marketing and I had to leave because of my job. I never returned to college, but I took small classes in Marketing and Communication to get by in my job. I kept writing, a little here and there mostly as theraphy. In november 2011 I joined Nano and I started dreaming again. I started seeing that life in my mind as a novelist, being able to produce something people would want to read, even if I wouldnt be able to have it as a career. I am still fighting, still trying, still dreaming, to get that manuscript out, to finish it, to believe in it and to publish it. It is wonderful to read that others go through the same, it doesnt make me feel so alone and I love Masterkoda for that. My guy is supportive and he keeps telling me to push through with it. My best friend is always eager to read my stuff and share it with her friends, they all want to see it published from the synopsis she gaves them. I have a support system, people who understad why I cant stop writing. So because of that, I keep writing, and keep dreaming of the day when I can be a writer, when I can return to college and this time for my English Degree, when I can call myself an Author.Anjie Harrtehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16783169045804982792noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8050482105736610039.post-62542304731581540952012-06-11T14:35:10.561+01:002012-06-11T14:35:10.561+01:00I wanted to be three things when I grew up: a teac...I wanted to be three things when I grew up: a teacher, a writer, and a mom.

I went to college to be a teacher, but life interfered and I haven't quite achieved that goal. I write daily and though I'm not (yet) published, the fact that words keep flowing out makes me happy. I'm content to write for myself if that's how it must be. The mom issue... its still pending.

Kim, I loved your anecdote about the bowler hat and glasses. I wish I had known you as a kid. All I knew for sure was that I wanted to be a mom. I loved stories and was always making something up. When we walked to school in the middle of winter, snow, cold and all. I would imagine we had our own personal sun right above us so we could go to school in shorts, no snow or ice where we walked. Crazy huh? lol but yeah, I would dream stuff up like that. I told stories to my kids, We would read books too, but they loved my stories because they would be in it. (I am working on that fear Jennifer Don!) Now my youngest son and I have written a book. We made a promise to each other and I plan to keep that promise. I promised we would get the book published. I didn't have a clue as to how that would happen. I promised to get it out there for others to read. Still didn't know how to do that either. My son promised we would finish the book. We did that. I have kept my promise and found a way to publish the book, I am working on marketing the book. I can't hold a job for very long due to either personal problems or company goes under. But we have been working on this project since 2009. If it takes another 5 years to get it off the ground then so be it. But I will keep working on it. Am I sharing way too much? probably. But I think its important today. Don't know why. If you want to know what a promise looks like, take a look at our book. http://amzn.to/HZ2q9V. This is our promise, our dreams and hopefully the beginning of our future!WendyandCharleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01826361432220735496noreply@blogger.com
